What is an artwork commission?
Artwork commissions are personalised art creations by Australian artist Rehana Nathwani. This service allows you to request a unique painting tailored to your preferences – whether that’s the size, subject, or colours that best suit your space or occasion. Each commissioned piece comes with a certificate of authenticity and custom framing can also be arranged if required. To make the process even more special, I provide progress photos (and where possible, time lapse videos) so you can watch your commissioned artwork come to life.

How do commissions work?
There are three options for comissioning artowrk in Australia and all of them start with a chat!
Option 1 – Inspired by an existing idea
If you already know what you’d like, or you’ve seen something that inspires you – reach out! You’re welcome to share a high quality image of your idea or I can source photos references for you. Together we’ll decide on the size, colours and pricing options taht best fit your vision.
Option 2 – Not sure what you want yet?
That’s perfectly fine! Many people comission art without knowing exactly what they want. We’ll talk about your space, the style and scale you’re looking for and your preferences. I’ll then head out on a nature hunt to gather inspiration and send you a selection of photo ideas that you can help guide into a finished concept.
Option 3 – Local and collaborative commissions
This one is my favourite! If you’re based in Sydney (or nearby), we can meet up for a bushwalk to collect treasures and inspiration together. We’ll take photos, discuss sizing and layout – this way we can collaborate to create a piece of art that’s deeply personal and completely unique.
With all options, nothing is started until you are happy with the mock up, sizing, timeline and pricing. Once approved, I begin the painting and provide regular updates. The finished artwork is then securely packaged and shipped anywhere in Australia.
Why would I consider a commission?
Finding the right original Australian art for your home or as a gift can be tricky. Commissioning a piece allows you to work directly with an artist to create something personalised and meaningful – whether it’s to fill a specific space, to celebrate a milestone or as a one-of-a-kind gift.
